Nurtau Golf Club

Nurtau Golf club is the first golf club in Kazakhstan. This 18-hole course is located in the ‘Alatau’ sanatorium complex in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau in Almaty. This beautiful club has a playing field which has been designed considering that golf has both beginners and professional players and everyone should have an equal opportunity at playing. With beauty comes challenges and Nurtau Golf Club is not bereft of them. As many as 11 out of the 13 holes are doglegs and various other hazards are in play as you travel along its 6800 meters of this 18-hole Par 72 golf course. Professionals seem to like the variety of the layout at this rolling parkland course, with an open front nine and wooded back nine – scoring well can be a real challenge, though, as no fewer than eleven of the thirteen par 4 and 5 holes are doglegged. The European Challenge Tour has rolled into town every year since 2005 for the Kazakhstan Open, which is the only event at that level in Eurasia, now that the Russian Open has been promoted to the main European Tour.
